Welcome to the Church Street South Trust website. This website has information about the trusts that were created as part of the class action settlement in the Church Street South case. The trusts were created to make certain lawful payments and to protect the class members who benefit from the settlement.

There are four trusts:

FOR MINORS

Minors are people less than 18 years old. The trustee will pay necessary expenses for minors at the request of the parent or guardian who has custody. Payments will be for the minors’ needs until he or she reaches age 18.

FOR DECEASED
CLASS MEMBERS

The trust will pay the heir or heirs of class members who have died. Payment will be to whoever is entitled to inherit under Connecticut’s laws – either to whoever is named in a will or if there is no will then according to Connecticut’s laws about inheritance.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE INCAPABLE (discretionary)

Some class members have been determined to be incapable of managing their own affairs or may be in the future. The settlement for these class members will be used to pay necessary expenses for the class member at the request of the person or people who are in charge of their wellbeing and finances.

FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

To help people who receive certain governmental benefits such as SSI (supplemental security income) or HUSKY C.

Class members on these governmental programs who have chosen to have their settlement put in trust can get the use of the money whenever they need it and still remain eligible for SSI or HUSKY C.

We have tried to make getting money from a trust a simple process. This website will explain how to get money from one of the trusts and the restrictions on how the money for minors or people who are incapable can be made available.
